Tax advisors recommend selling your underperforming investments in order to realize losses that can offset income, reducing the taxes you owe.  Sounds great but how do you know if a “loser” really deserves to be axed from your portfolio?  This class will cover the four reasons to sell as well as when not to sell your stock or mutual fund.

  Preparing to Retire

   (1 hour web seminar)

If you have five years or less to go until you retire, join us for part 1 of our 3-part series Money Management for Retirees.  This first course, Preparing to Retire, will teach you the 3-steps to get your portfolio ready for the transition.  During this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Estimate your expenses in retirement including health care and long-term care insurance considerations

  • Evaluate your income sources such as Social Security

  • Adjust your asset allocation and investments to position your portfolio for a transition to retirement

At the conclusion of this workshop, you will know the important tasks to complete now to enhance your chances of achieving the retirement you envision.

  Online Investing: Be Your Own Advisor

This informative seminar shares explores how to use the internet to be your own financial advisor.  You will learn how to use the internet to help you with every aspect of building and managing an investment portfolio. We will discuss online tools and resources to help you:

  • Establish realistic financial goals

  • Identify potential investment opportunities

  • Analyze your existing portfolio asset allocation

  • Conduct research to determine what to buy

  • Select an online broker to house your account

  • Track your portfolio performance

At the conclusion of this course, you will have the tolls and knowledge needed to start your own investment portfolio using the internet instead of a financial advisor.
